Actions speak louder than words





In my last PR Week column I addressed the thorny issue of leadership within agencies.  With a people based business model providing motivating leadership is not just a nice to have!

As I commented in my column, millions of words have been written on the topic, but I believe Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner hit it on the head with their Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.

Their model translates well to the agency world and the five traits of great leadership they identify are easily understood, if not so simple to deliver consistently:

  • Model the Way
  • Inspire a Shared Vision
  • Challenge the Process
  • Enable others to Act
  • Encourage the Heart
