Last week I ran a workshop for the MAA as part of its Future Leaders Academy covering how to recruit, develop and retain the best people. The discussion was lively and a good number of the attendees were developing innovative ways of reaching potential recruits and holding on to them.
What was not discussed (probably with good reason) was the value of watching how a potential team member rides a bike and taking it as a guide to how they might perform in the workplace. But in her podcast this week the FT’s Lucy Kellaway does just that.
I fear I may be a the over weight middle aged man in lycra and certainly cannot claim to the wild risk taker in black, with no lights and my ear phones in.
Not the most serious piece of management advice but an entertaining 5 mins and 26 seconds. You can listen to it here.
